Executive Chef and Owner John Zucker has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Locally, John has consulted on six new restaurants in the Southeast (including McCrady’s, 39 Rue de Jean, and Fish) and was previously the Executive Chef of the 4-Star Sonoma Café and Wine Bar in Charleston. John has also worked for Spago in Las Vegas and Canoe in Atlanta.
"Charleston has really become a food-lover’s city," says Zucker, "I chose to come back after a year of traveling because I want to be a part of this community again. People here get excited about food and I love that—Charlestonians recognize fine food and appreciate innovative cooking."
Starting Cru Catering is the beginning of many things to come for Your Chef, Inc., also founded by Zucker. "We want to raise the bar in the catering industry", says Zucker. "I refuse to serve anything that has been frozen or pre-made--everything
We serve is homemade, from the freshest and finest produce and ingredients we can find."
Zucker has the credentials to back up his goal. As the #1 graduate n his class at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, and with his background in consulting, Zucker is schooled in various genres of cuisine. His diverse knowledge is demonstrated in the dishes on Cru Catering’s selection menu, which is best described as Eclectic Modern American Cuisine with Italian, Asian, Southern, Southwestern and Caribbean influences.
