We use recipes that have history, fused with contemporary mixology techniques and ingredients to bring you modern craft bartending at a level unseen in Homer. We try and use the freshest, seasonal ingredients. we love local flavours and we want you to come try them in both our food and beverage program. Original Intention equals end result. Co-Owners/ Chefs - Cody Fry & Chris Miller
The Green Can has been a longtime dream for co-owners Cody Fry and Chris Miller. Chris, chef extraordinaire, visionary, and entrepreneur, met Cody, a similarly gifted chef and imaginative and innovative culinary force after they both took the Alaskan leap of faith and arrived in beautiful Homer Alaska in 2018.
Chris Miller, started his culinary training almost 25 years ago under fine dining chef Zach Calkin’s in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Following his training there, he dove head first into the Denver Foodie scene, working at Cadillac Ranch and Gallagher's Steakhouse, then heading to Seattle where he trained for several years, perfecting his skills in Seafood. His transition to Seattle then led Chris to his 15 year career at Whole Foods, where he cultivated his passion and knowledge of high quality ingredients. After transitions in the company, Chris convinced his wife Jess that, in 2018, it was time for their family to leave the lower 48 and follow his brother to Alaska.
Serendipitously, shortly after Chris took the lead as an Executive Chef in Homer, Cody and his wife Sonya were looking for a change of scenery from their unique lives on a small island near Nicaragua. Previous to their island life, Cody started his culinary training under Michelin Star chef Charlie Socher. This led him down a distinctive passionate path of high quality food and service. Gracing kitchens from Colorado to the Caribbean, Cody has worked in some of the highest quality and pressure dining situations. High End Private Elite catering, Exclusive Resort chef, and now restaurant owner- there is little in the culinary world Cody hasn’t seen and navigated before in his career.
Soon after Cody and his wife arrived in Homer and Cody became Sous Chef, working right alongside Chris at a well known hotel restaurant. It didn't take long before they realized not only were their individual dreams in harmony, but they had a one of a kind winning team. They decided that one day soon they would have to collaborate and pursue their shared dream of creating and owning a first class restaurant.
Between their individual expertise, their shared passion for food, delivering exceptional customer service, and the ultimate dream of creating their own unique restaurant, they decided to take the leap of faith. Along with the large and talented support team of friends, family, and associates, they launched the enormous and exciting endeavor of manifesting their shared dream- The Green Can!
