Olive & Fig Mediterranean Kitchen is run by a husband and wife duo
Chef’s background has always been in the food and Beverage industry starting as a sky chef for Scandinavian Airlines in Kuwait. He has also Chef'd in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Montreal, Canada before coming to the US. Tammy’s family owned and operated a fine dining restaurant in Waddington, NY and has worked as a social worker in Canada and in new home sales upon returning to the US until opening the restaurant. With the couple’s combined skills and knowledge of managing, and of the food and beverage industry it was a solid decision to open the restaurant featuring Chef Munjid’s culture and culinary creations. This has always been a dream of his!
Chef Munjid is from Kuwait, born to Lebanese parents and is the youngest of 7 children.He completed his culinary degree from the Royal Academy of London and hospitality degree from Lausanne, Switzerland. Tammy is from NY state and accomplished a degree in Social Work from Brockville, Ontario Canada. They met in Charlotte, NC in 2010, combining two families and raising 6 children. Once the children had graduated, Chef and Tammy moved to Hilton Head Island in 2013. Chef Munjid has worked and opened restaurants on the island and Tammy worked for two home builders in sales before opening Olive &Fig Mediterranean Kitchen.
“We began this venture shortly after locating to Hilton Head Island, realizing there was little authentic culinary choices amongst the 100’s of restaurants in the area. Chef Munjid’s passion for the Mediterranean cuisine and particularly his own Lebanese flavors, the restaurant became more of a realistic goal and Olive & Fig Mediterranean Kitchen was created!”
