Executive Chef, Marclyn Ellison
Marclyn Ellison’s passion for cooking is nothing new; he has worked in restaurants for more than two decades and really can’t imagine doing anything else. In his current role as executive chef of Ruth’s Chris Steak House Greenville, Ellison brings a breadth of experience and inspiration, and he is known for his unique culinary creations and his passion for cooking with quality ingredients.
Always ambitious, Ellison started with Ruth’s Chris Steak House as sous chef at the original Greenville restaurant (at I-385 and Roper Mountain Road) in 2011 and was quickly promoted to executive chef in early 2012. In 2016, Ellison played an integral role in the successful opening of Greenville’s second Ruth’s Chris Steak House - located in downtown’s the upscale RiverPlace development – where he currently oversees culinary operations as Executive Chef.
Prior to joining Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Chef Ellison worked for Brioso Fresh Pasta where he was part of a team that meticulously produced gourmet handmade fresh pastas on a daily basis. From 2007 to 2009, Ellison was kitchen manager at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, where Ellison was responsible for ensuring that corporate brand standards were consistently upheld.
Armed with a natural enthusiasm for food and cooking, Ellison felt compelled to pursue a degree in culinary arts at an early age. Post graduation from the Culinary Institute of America, Ellison launched his culinary career as a chef with Lu Louis, an award-winning restaurant near Lake Tahoe in Nevada.
Originally from Greenville, S.C., Ellison moved out west early in his career, but he is happy to call Greenville home once again. When Chef Ellison has time away from the kitchen, he enjoys collecting wines, grilling, watching movies and spending time with his family.
