Apple Betty

Ingredients

8 Granny Smith Apples
1 lb, 4 oz Granulated Sugar
8 oz Dry White Wine
1 oz Cinnamon Powder
8 oz Raisins
1 Stick Melted Butter
8 Slices White Bread, Challah, or Brioche

Method

  • Peel, core and slice apples.
  • Combine prepared apples with next 4 ingredients in medium saucepan.
  • Cook over high heat for 10 minutes, until juices begin to boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and allow to completely cool.
  • Place 2 tablespoons butter into 8 individual soup bowls, and place 2 slices of bread in each bowl.
  • Place some of the cooled apple mixture on top of the bread and refrigerate.
  • To serve, warm slowly in oven until warmed through.
  • Serve with creme anglais or ice cream.
