Executive Chef Scott Hazelberg
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Scott Hazelberg went to Nathan Hale High school in West Allis and was class president. Hazelberg attended UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math and Actuarial Science. However, by graduation Scott’s culinary dream had taken over. Hazelberg began his chef career as a line cook at Hugo's, a Steakhouse in Franklin. Within 6 months Scott proved his merit, and when the Executive Chef departed he knew that Chef Hazelberg could be trusted with the responsibility. Though Scott was young, he managed the kitchen efficiently and output a quality menu.
Next Hazelberg worked under Chef Andrew Tenaglia at Lagniappe Brasserie, a completely farm-to-table restaurant located in New Berlin. The restaurant offered a daily, ever-changing tasting menu. New and exciting challenges were the norm. After struggling through 3 months of bread baking and cake making, Chef Hazelberg learned that one can never know too much about culinary technique. Once comfortable in Lagnieppe Brasserie’s kitchen, Hazelberg grew to love and perfected techniques that he was originally least comfortable with; pastry production and seafood preparation. Today he excels at both.
Currently Executive Chef Hazelberg resides at Hom Wood Fired Grill in Brookfield. As the kitchen manager and menu developer, he approaches the menu from a traditional vantage. Chef Hazelberg offers, “Guests at Hom can trust that century old customs and recipes, and locally grown foods have an inherent intelligence that I need only to reveal to myself and others. I love working in the kitchen because I affect lives every day! There is great joy in that for me.”
