Bao Bao - Taiwanese-style sandwich


Yields: 4-6 servings


1 pkg buns, folded
1 head of lettuce
1 C Szechuan pickles
1 C peanuts, grounded
1 beef shank, whole


  • Put beef and beef ingredients into a large pot. The ingredients should be enough to cover the beef.
  • Turn the heat on high until boil, then change to low/medium for at least one hour, until the beef is chewy and soft.
  • Take the beef out of the pot and cool completely. Then slice to desired size.
  • Drain the remaining sauce as dip for the sandwiches.
  • Boil water in the steamer.
  • Put folded buns into steamer around 7 - 10 minutes until soft.
  • Open buns and dress with lettuce, sliced beef, pickles, peanuts.
