Chef/Owner Susan Windeborg
SUSAN McCREIGHT LINDEBORG - Susan McCreight Lindeborg, former chef at the Morrison Clark Inn in Washington, D.C., has re-opened (May 2001) the Majestic Cafe in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The Majestic, at 911 King Street, was an Alexandria landmark known for its good food and friendly atmosphere from 1949 until it closed in 1978.
Chef Lindeborg arrived at the Morrison-Clark, the only historic inn in Washington, in 1990, after three years as pastry chef under Bob Kinkead, now chef/owner of Kinkead's n and Colvin Run Tavern.
She began her cooking career in 1976 as the assistant baker at the Bishop's Lodge resort outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. She became a line cook at La Fonda, the historic hotel at the end of the Santa Fe Trail. She then cooked at The Periscope in Santa Fe. She was chef at L'Etoile on the Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin, for four years, interrupted in 1985 by work as visiting chef at Tapestries in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Chef Lindeborg was born in La Junta, Colorado, and raised in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
