Chef Micah GarrisonChef Micah Garrison

Chef Micah Garrison of Middleton Place Restaurant strives to integrate the freshest local ingredients in his blended style of traditional Southern cuisine with a contemporary edge. Micah attended the Culinary Institute of Charleston before venturing into some of Charleston’s most renowned restaurant kitchens. Beginning in 2001, he built an impressive and diverse culinary portfolio at Boone Hall Plantation, Cypress and 82 Queen Restaurants. Micah was promoted from Sous Chef to Executive Chef at Middleton Place Restaurant in 2006 and has received acclaim from both area residents and visitors alike. Garrison is a two time winner of the Sustainable Seafood Initiative Award sponsored by the South Carolina Aquarium.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Micah gained appreciation for the skills of a master gardener on his grandparent’s dairy farm in the upstate. Family customs of planting and harvesting food and vegetables, developed into a personal passion that he expresses in the bountiful production garden at Middleton Place, a National Historic Landmark. A lead supporter of South Carolina farmers, about fifty percent of the Restaurant’s dinner menu is either from the plantation garden or locally sourced seafood and poultry.

By continuing to refine the Restaurant’s offerings, Chef Garrison hopes to gain greater awareness for the Low Country’s culinary establishments. Garrison utilizes seasonal local foods at the Middleton Place Restaurant and excels at the art of plantation dining. Nestled among centuries old live oak trees, Middleton Place Restaurant and Chef Garrison offer an unrivaled combination of historic and present day delights sure to please even the most discerning palettes.

The Middleton Place Foundation is a 501 (C)(3) not-for-profit educational trust and is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Foundation's mission is to sustain the highest levels of preservation and interpretation for the National Historic Landmark rich in classical and romantic garden design, horticulture and history.
