Corporate Executive Chef Scott Cohen’s love for culinary arts began during his formative years in high school where he worked part-time in local restaurants and developed a passion for the food service industry. His skills have flourished during the years and today Cohen serves as Corporate Executive Chef of the acclaimed La Mansión del Rio® Hotel & Spa and the Watermark Hotel & Spa, located along the world-renowned River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, Chef Cohen has been associated with the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida, The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas during Wolfgang Puck’s tenure as the hotel’s Corporate Executive Chef, and The Carlyle Hotel in New York, where he secured the post of Sous Chef.
He later worked with the three-star La Reserve as Sous Chef under the late Andrew Gaillard, which was an opportunity that afforded Chef Cohen with solid kitchen experience and enhanced his traditional French training. At the urging of Master Chef Daniel Boulud, Chef Cohen traveled to France to further hone his culinary skills. While there, he apprenticed at the famed Moulin de Mougin and trained under Georges Blanc and Roger Verge. Upon returning to the United States in 1990, Cohen joined Tatou, New York’s widely popular supper club, as Executive Chef and later became Executive Chef at the Four-Star, Four-Diamond Stanhope Hotel in 1994, where a new restaurant was built to showcase his creations. That same year, Chef Cohen was awarded the Bronze Medal of the French Vatel Club, honoring him as one of the nation’s outstanding young chefs and positioning him as one of the first American chefs to be honored with a membership to the prestigious club.
