Guillermo Peters Executive Chef/Owner
Chef Guillermo Peters was born in Coyoacan, Mexico City. His Mexican/German upbringing gave him a worldly outlook that inspired travel all over the globe as a young man. His mothers cooking always brought his taste buds home. Music was also a big part of Guillermo’s life and took him all over Mexico to play in big cities and Pueblitas(small towns). The musicians were usually paid partially in food and drink. This gave him the opportunity to taste food from all parts of his homeland and develop authentic recipes for himself. Many of these recipes were authentic salsas he grew to love. Once again music and food united as Guillermo moved to New Orleans for it’s musical culture. He started a salsa company and peddled salsa all over the country. He received national acclaim for his salsas, but yearned to operate a restaurant. After years of entertaining his family and friends he opened a small taqueria called Taqueros in 1997 and folded the salsa company. The little restaurant in Kenner Louisiana opened with the help of his family and friends. Starting with paper plates the restaurant quickly had the attention of the who’s who in New Orleans food. It was voted best Mexican Restaurant and Best Mexican Gourmet shortly after opening. Many guests would make long trips just to experience his cuisine. Customers always told the Chef that he should open another restaurant closer to New Orleans. After 5 years of planning and dreaming the restaurant in his mind’s eye is finally came to fruition.
