Chef Austin R. Harris

I have over seventeen years of professional experience, most of which entailed southwestern cuisine. Growing up in northern New Mexico, most recently Santa Fe, I was fortunate enough to experience the flavors of the southwest on a regular basis. My very first boss taught me how to work with chilies and how to bring out the biggest flavors from everyday ingredients. Both key factors in southwestern cooking. To this day I implement the same techniques with more emphasis on efficiency and presentation. As a chef I feel a finished and refines dish easily identifies your attitude, personality, and talent.

James R. McHugh

I began my culinary career at the age of sixteen here on Hilton Head. After working at a few prominent restaurants locally I ventured into an academic career at the College of Charleston. While studying corporate communications at the college I worked in well established restaurants which mainly focused on low country cuisine. However, I always aspired to work at a place that brought more to the table. At Santa Fe Café I began learning about southwest cuisine, which has always interested me. This style is rustic pertaining to the ways of old America. When this country was being explored during the late 1800’s the pioneers created the techniques and the groundwork for the cuisine we have today. I like not only to satisfy our customers with long-standing local menu favorites, but also implement fish brought from the Pacific and fuse it with ingredients indigenous to the southwest and offer something different to our faithful and loyal clientele.

Sean Crosby Chef /Owner

I have been in the culinary field since I was sixteen years old and have over twenty-four years of experience. Over my career as a chef, I have learned many things about a variety of different styles, influences, and techniques under many creative chefs. In 1991 I graduated from Johnson and Whales University in Charleston South Carolina. While there I studied everything from classical, Asian, Italian, to Spanish cuisine. As a chef I wanted to be knowledgeable in different cultures and Influences. I do enjoy the southwestern cuisine and also the culture. I was introduced to this type of food fourteen years ago when I started here at Santa Fe café. I now have supreme confidence in my abilities working with chilies and all the core ingredients involved in making authentic southwestern cuisine and look forward to the challenge to come up with new and innovative menu ideas to show my own style and influences that I have developed over the years.
