After growing up in Pittsburgh and attending the University of Cincinnati, he found his true calling in the kitchen. He worked in various restaurants while in college and then attended the New England Culinary School in Essex, Vermont. His professional experience includes stints in the kitchens at the Ritz Carlton on Maui and the prestigious Auberge du Soliel in Napa Valley. It was in Napa Valley that he developed his interest in wine as an integral part of fine dining. He eventually moved back to his college hometown of Cincinnati where he worked initially in catering before becoming Sous Chef at Prima Vista, a Cincinnati landmark. He then spent the next few years as Executive Chef and Assistant Wine Manager at Ohio's largest wine retailer and international market.
