His passion for the culinary arts started at a very young age.  His family owned a food processing company and supplied the main market and several other locations with their food needs.  His Aunt, who was in charge of the factory, received many awards and was written up in several praising magazine articles.  At the age of 10, Gene started working in the family business.  He moved to Austin in 1986 and developed his craft at fine hotels such as Waller Creek Hotel, The Driskill Hotel, and finally for 10 years was the Garde Manager in charge of ice sculptures and artfully displayed garnishments for Barton Creek Resort.  Even now, Gene is often contracted for his carving abilities for special events at the Resort.  In 1996, Gene realized his dream of opening and running his own restaurant, Thai Passion.  Gene now own another Thai restaurant name Bangkok Cuisine (north side of Austin @ hwy 183 & Burnet rd) Gene has an opportunity to host the Ambassador of Thailand and several high-ranking dignitaries at a reception dinner at Thai Passion. Gene’s reputation as running a world class restaurant is now international.
